UI/UX Design
Research to pixel-final.
Creating intuitive, user-centric digital experiences that enhance engagement and streamline complex user journeys seamlessly.
We design software people can actually use: research to understand the job, flows and wireframes to structure it, interactive prototypes in Figma to test it before it is built, and a design system your engineers can build from without guessing. Accessibility is part of the work, not an audit at the end.
The expensive design mistakes are not visual. They are structural — a navigation model that does not match how people think about the work, a form that asks for information the user does not have yet, an interface that assumes an expert on their first day. Those get fixed cheaply in a prototype and expensively in production.
- Design starts with the job the user is trying to finish, not with screens.
- A tested prototype is the cheapest place to be wrong.
- A design system pays for itself the moment a second developer touches the interface.
- Accessibility is a legal expectation in the UK public sector and a commercial one everywhere else.
How we work
- Research — interviews and observation with people who do the job, not assumptions about them.
- Journey mapping to find where the current process actually breaks down.
- Wireframes that settle structure and priority before anyone argues about colour.
- Interactive prototypes in Figma or Framer, clickable enough to test properly.
- Usability testing with real users, with findings that change the design rather than decorate a report.
- Design systems — components, tokens and states, so the build matches the design.
- Accessibility audits against WCAG, with specific fixes rather than a score.
- Developer handoff that answers the questions engineers actually ask: empty states, error states, loading, edge cases.
Why handoff is where most design fails
A polished set of happy-path screens is not a specification. Real software spends much of its life in the states nobody designed: no data yet, too much data, a failed request, a slow connection, a permission the user does not have. When those are undefined, developers invent them under deadline, and the built product drifts from the designed one. We specify them, which is unglamorous and is most of the value.
Frequently asked questions
Can you design without building?
Yes. Design is often a standalone engagement, and the output is intended to be handed to whoever builds it — including your in-house team or another agency. Everything is yours, in your Figma workspace.
Do you redesign existing products?
Frequently, and it is usually better approached as a series of targeted improvements than a single relaunch. Redesigning everything at once means changing many variables simultaneously, which makes it impossible to tell what helped.
How do you measure whether a design worked?
Against the behaviour it was meant to change — task completion, time to finish, error and drop-off rates, support tickets about the same confusion. Agreeing that measure before the work starts is what separates a design engagement from a decorating one.
Is accessibility included?
It is part of the design rather than a separate line item — colour contrast, keyboard operation, focus order, screen-reader semantics. Retrofitting accessibility is substantially more expensive than designing for it.
How the engagement runs
- Scoping call, then discovery. We establish what you actually need before quoting. You approve scope before we write a line of code.
- Fixed price or capped time and materials. Tightly specified work suits a fixed price; genuinely new work suits a capped retainer. We recommend one rather than offering both and letting you guess.
- Weekly demos. You see working software every week, so nothing surprising turns up at the end.
- You own everything. Repositories, infrastructure and documentation transfer to you on payment. No vendor lock-in, no licensing you do not control.
- NDA as standard, usually before the first detailed call. We will often send one ourselves if you do not.
If you are planning a design engagement and want a straight assessment of scope, timeline and cost, tell us what you are building. We work with clients across the UK, EU and US.
